Itinerary
Duration: 9 Days / 8 Nights
Starting Point: Colombo, Negombo, or Katunayake Airport
Day 1: Arrival in Colombo / Negombo
- Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo / Negombo)
- Meet and greet by the tour guide
- Transfer to Negombo (approximately 30 minutes)
- Check-in at the hotel and relax
- Optional: Explore the Negombo Lagoon and fish market or relax on Negombo Beach
- Overnight Stay: Negombo
Day 2: Negombo to Wilpattu National Park
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to Wilpattu National Park (approximately 4 hours)
- Check-in at the safari lodge or eco-camp
- Afternoon: Half-day safari in Wilpattu National Park, famous for its leopard population, elephants, sloth bears, and diverse birdlife
- Evening: Return to the lodge and relax
- Overnight Stay: Wilpattu
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Wilpattu National Park
- Early Morning: Full-day safari in Wilpattu National Park with packed breakfast and lunch
- Explore the park’s unique “Villus” (natural lakes) and witness a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat
- Evening: Return to the lodge and relax
- Overnight Stay: Wilpattu
Day 4: Wilpattu to Minneriya National Park
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to Minneriya (approximately 3.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel
- Afternoon: Jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, known for the “Gathering” of elephants (largest Asian elephant gathering in the world during July-September)
- Overnight Stay: Habarana / Sigiriya
Day 5: Habarana to Knuckles Mountain Range
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Sigiriya or Pidurangala Rock for a panoramic view of the surrounding forest
- Transfer to Knuckles Mountain Range (approximately 3.5 hours)
- Check-in at an eco-lodge or camping site in the Knuckles Range
- Evening: Short nature walk or hike to explore the biodiversity of the Knuckles Range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Overnight Stay: Knuckles Mountain Range
Day 6: Knuckles to Kandy
- Morning: Breakfast at the lodge
- Half-Day Trekking in Knuckles to explore waterfalls, dense forests, and unique wildlife
- Afternoon: Transfer to Kandy (approximately 1.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel
- Evening: Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Kandy Lake
- Overnight Stay: Kandy
Day 7: Kandy to Udawalawe National Park
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to Udawalawe National Park (approximately 4.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel or safari camp
- Afternoon: Half-day safari in Udawalawe National Park, known for its large elephant population, water buffalo, sambar deer, and bird species
- Overnight Stay: Udawalawe
Day 8: Udawalawe to Yala National Park
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe, a rehabilitation center for orphaned elephants
- Transfer to Yala National Park (approximately 2.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel or safari camp
- Evening: Relax and enjoy the surroundings or visit the nearby beach
- Overnight Stay: Yala
Day 9: Yala to Colombo / Negombo
- Early Morning: Jeep safari in Yala National Park, the most popular wildlife destination in Sri Lanka, famous for its leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and diverse birdlife
- Late Morning: Return to the hotel for breakfast and check-out
- Transfer to Colombo / Negombo (approximately 5.5 hours)
- City Tour in Colombo (if time permits): Visit Galle Face Green, Gangaramaya Temple, and Independence Square
- Transfer to the Airport for Departure
