Itinerary
Duration: 7 Days / 6 Nights
Starting Point: Colombo, Negombo, or Katunayake Airport
Day 1: Arrival in Colombo / Negombo and Transfer to Kandy
- Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo / Negombo)
- Meet and greet by the tour guide
- Transfer to Kandy (approximately 3.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel
- Evening: Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and take a leisurely walk around Kandy Lake
- Overnight Stay: Kandy
Day 2: Kandy to Loolkandura and Tea Factory Visits
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Loolkandura Estate, the first tea plantation in Sri Lanka established by James Taylor, the pioneer of Ceylon Tea (approximately 1 hour drive from Kandy)
- Guided tour of the estate and James Taylor’s Cottage
- Afternoon: Visit a tea factory nearby to learn about the tea-making process and participate in a tea-tasting session
- Return to Kandy and explore the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens
- Overnight Stay: Kandy
Day 3: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Scenic drive to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 2.5 hours), known as “Little England” for its cool climate and colonial architecture
- Check-in at the hotel
- Visit a Tea Plantation and Factory: Experience tea plucking and learn about the production of Ceylon Tea
- Afternoon: Visit Gregory Lake and Victoria Park for a relaxing evening
- Overnight Stay: Nuwara Eliya
Day 4: Nuwara Eliya to Haputale via Horton Plains
- Early Morning: Leave for Horton Plains National Park for a trek to World’s End and Baker’s Falls (packed breakfast)
- Transfer to Haputale (approximately 2 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel
- Visit Lipton’s Seat, a viewpoint made famous by Sir Thomas Lipton, with stunning views of tea plantations
- Overnight Stay: Haputale
Day 5: Haputale to Ella
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit Dambatenne Tea Factory, one of the most famous tea factories in Sri Lanka, built by Sir Thomas Lipton
- Transfer to Ella (approximately 1.5 hours)
- Check-in at the hotel
- Afternoon: Visit Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak for scenic views
- Overnight Stay: Ella
Day 6: Ella Tea Plantation Tour and Demodara Loop
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Guided Tour of a Local Tea Estate and Factory to learn about the various types of tea and their production methods
- Visit Demodara Railway Loop, a unique engineering marvel
- Afternoon: Free time to relax in Ella or explore the local cafes and markets
- Overnight Stay: Ella
Day 7: Ella to Colombo / Negombo
- Morning: Breakfast at the hotel
- Scenic Train Journey from Ella to Nanu Oya (if time permits) and then transfer to Colombo / Negombo by car
- Afternoon: Arrival in Colombo / Negombo (approximately 5.5 hours)
- City Tour in Colombo (if time permits): Visit Galle Face Green, Independence Square, and explore local markets
- Transfer to the Airport for Departure
